During the last year of my BFA at the Ilam School of Fine Arts I decided to initiate a series of workshops that would bring some key figures from the arts ecology in the South Island to the school to talk about ways to navigate the arts ecology outside of art school. These figures included Blue Oyster Director Grace Ryder, Physics Room Director Jamie Hanton, Jonathan Smart Gallery and The Central owner and director Jonathan Smart, Creative New Zealand Music and Opera Arts advisor Chris Archer, Christchurch City Council transitional city advisor Brindi Joy and finally Christchurch City Council arts advisor Nicola Thompson
