Whilst at University I developed a dilettante artists’ publishing imprint so that I could produce and distribute artists books under a single name.
As part of this I required a name and identity. A lot of the books I’ve produced so far have a solid influence from speculative thinking, some leaning into it more than others. The first book I made was a found-image narrative novel that used popular science-fiction films as a reservoir for thinking about cultural anxieties. This interest in Sci-Fi still influences me currently so I was interesting in framing the identity for Crystal Palace Books around this.
The Logo is set in Wim Crouwel’s typeface Fodor as a homage to digital type seen in science fiction, but also with heavy modernist influences and softened corners.
